Speech (Articulation and Phonological Processes)

Treating articulation and phonological processes involves a variety of methods that work for your child while using games and play during treatment. Auditory bombardment helps your child hear the correct production of their target sound through books, play, and singing. Shaping methods are used by helping your child produce their target sound through another sound they already produce correctly. Articulatory placement helps them understand where they needs to place their articulators(i.e. lips, tongue, etc) for correct production of their target sound. Mirrors are used when learning correct articulatory placement.

Fluency/Stuttering

Treatment for fluency disorders is based on your child's needs seen during their evaluation. We help them understand the speech mechanism, learn breathing techniques, and use a variety of strategies to help them during their moments of stuttering. It is beautiful to see their confidence increase during speaking activities!

Literacy

Literacy intervention is interactive and involves many components. Pre-reading skills such as hearing rhyming words and letter recognition are introduced first. Then children learn letter sounds and are engaged in phonics activities where sounds are blended to make words. Comprehension of texts is targeted alongside phonics intervention. As blending letters becomes more rapid, rate of fluency is targeted to increase the amount of words read per minute.
